anyone who know's me know's that i'm a stubborn value-oriented investor. after reading my first book on buffett, no other approach ever made sense.

principles of value investing were first laid out by ben graham and david dodd in thier 1934 book security analysis and were presented further by graham in his 1974 book the intelligent investor. in essence, value investing entails buying stocks or other investments at less than their intrinsic value. while simple in theory, the vast majority of market participants do not possess the level of patience or discipline required to implement such an approach. graham coined the term "margin of safety" to denote the extent of the discount a security can be purchased for relative to its intrinsic value - the greater the discount, or margin of safety, the better. followers of graham's principles include a list of legendary investors: charles brandes, warren buffett, joel greenblatt, bruce greewald, irving kahn, charlie munger, bill ruane, and marty whitman, among others.

in 2006 i earned an mba from columbia business school, where graham taught some of the aforementioned investing greats. i currently work as a research analyst at kiitos capital management.
